Sometimes I pretend that I am “that mom” … you know the one that I am talking about. The mom that is always on time to their kids’ events, always volunteers to help with the school, always has perfectly planned birthday parties for their kids. Yeah. You can picture her. Truth is, I am not that mom. I work full time, my house is never clean, and I order out more often than I cook. BUT one thing I loved growing up was eating “Dirt” – and my kids do too!
No – it’s not what you are thinking. I don’t send my kids outside to get a bucket of dirt to snack on, although they are boys, and they just might (I do not condone actual dirt eating). “Dirt” is an Oreo cookie dessert that you can make look fancy (and that you put a lot of effort into it but didn’t). I bought some glass small planters at the dollar store and a couple of fake plastic flowers!
How To Make “Dirt”:
8 oz. Cream Cheese
1 C. Powdered Sugar
½ Stick Butter
12 oz. Cool Whip
2 Packages Chocolate Instant Pudding mix (regular size)
3 ½ C. Milk
1 Package Oreo Cookies (crushed)
Cream together cream cheese, butter and sugar
In a separate bowl, mix cool whip, pudding mix, and milk.
Fold in cream cheese mixture
Place in refrigerator overnight.
Crush Oreos in plastic baggie with rolling pin, or a light grind in a food processor (you want different size chunks)
Layer into your service vessel(s) layering the cream cheese mixture with Oreos in multiple layers.
The top layer should be crushed Oreos.
Add gummy worms and fake flowers to the top for a fun presentation!
